During the third year of my university studies, I took a course called Integrated Media Production. The aim of this course was to deepen one’s knowledge in a chosen medium within media production, and my group chose animation. The task was to create a visual solution to inform, enlighten, and inspire about one of the global goals.
For this project, my group chose to focus on the global goal ”Life Below Water.” Within this category, we discovered a topic that didn’t seem widely exposed to the general public: the consequences of improper disposal of medicines. Through our research on the subject, we came across information highlighting the dire consequences that medication waste can have on life in lakes and oceans. We decided to create a campaign to raise awareness about this issue. Given our chosen medium, the campaign took the form of a short animated film, which would be integrated into people’s daily lives through campaign posters featuring QR codes placed in public spaces.
While my group members started working on storyboarding, scripting, and sound design for the film, I began illustrating the main character in Adobe Illustrator. A first draft was quickly presented to the group, and I received feedback to refine the character into a second draft. After a discussion with the group, this version was approved, and a color palette was selected and applied to the character.
